There is a full range of commercial accommodation in Shark Bay, most of which is located in Denham and Monkey Mia. Where you choose to stay will depend on your budget, your preferred type of accommodation and how close you want to be to the local attractions.

Denham has the greatest range of accommodation and caters for all budgets. The Monkey Mia Resort is also very popular because of its proximity to the dolphin interaction area and the range of accommodation available. The Dirk Hartog Island Homestead, Nanga Bay Resort, and the Hamelin Pool Telegraph Station are further a field but conveniently located near some of the area’s World Heritage attractions. Commercial campgrounds and caravan parks

If you want to camp in a campground with all amenities such as powered sites, hot showers and toilets there are a number of options for you. Several caravan parks with a wide range of facilities are located in Denham, all within a short walk of the main street. Other commercial campgrounds are available around the World Heritage Area including at Nanga Bay and Monkey Mia Resorts and at the Hamelin Pool Telegraph Station. Bush and national park camping

Bush camping is a great way to fully immerse yourself in Shark Bay’s natural environment. Basic camping areas are provided in Francois Peron National Park, at Steep Point and on Dirk Hartog Island. These sites are only accessible to 4WD’s however at some sites on South Peron there is the possibility of bush camping for people in 2WD vehicles with prior arrangement with the Shire of Shark Bay.
